POINTER CLUB OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ANNUAL AWARDS

The Pointer Club of Southern California offers the following awards to any Pointer whose owner or co-owner has been a member of the club continuously since July 1st of the year for which the awards are given.

BEST OF BREED PERPETURAL TROPHY ~ Offered by Beagood Kennels – in Memory of Bea Goodman. This award will be offered to the PCSC member-owned dog who by virtue of Sporting Group placements, Best in Shows, or Specialty Best of Breeds has achieved the most points during the award year. Point scale to be the same as Award Published in AKC Awards, Only one dog eligible to receive it each year (in case of a tie, winner would be determined by the number of pointers defeated overall). If it qualifies, a dog could win this award more than once (i.e. successive award years). This is a perpetual trophy/prize*, not to be retired, recipient's name, and owner's name along with the year earned to be suitably engraved on a plate mounted permanently to the trophy base.

AWARDS OF MERIT ~ Offered by Pointer Club of Southern California

An Award will be presented to every dog which has completed its first AKC title in conformation, obedience, field, tracking, agility or rally. Dogs with multiple titles within the same year will receive one Award with all titles listed.

Awards and Additional Requirements

The Pointer Club of Southern California offers the following awards to any Pointer whose owner or co-owner has been a member of the club continuously since July 1st of the year for which the awards are given: who has attended at least two PCSC membership and /or committee meetings that year: and chaired/served on a committee or helped work at a PCSC sponsored event (i.e. Specialty Show, Hunt Test, Fund Day, Match Show, Pet Expo, RDOD, etc.)

The Awards Year is defined as January through December 31st. Members who dogs qualify for awards shall apply for such awards to the PCSC Awards Chairman through the use of an application form before the deadline each year (defined as January 31st of the new year) . The AKC AWARDS shall be the source for verification of all AKC titles and wins. Banquet may be at the Annual Meeting in June or after.

This is a perpetual trophy/prize*, not to be retired, recipient's name, and owner's name along with the year earned to be suitably engraved on a plate mounted permanently to the trophy base. At least one of the dog's owner(s) must meet the requirements for eligibility status as determined for all prize/trophies.

AWARDS OF OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT

These challenge awards* will be presented to the dog which has the most points in the awards year according to the following schedule:

CONFORMATION (AKC licensed shows only)

1. Best of Breed - Perpetual offered by Royal Kennels – Louis & Judy Krokover - points to be individually tabulated and will be equal to the total number of actual Pointers, male or female, defeated a the breed level (1 point awarded for every Pointer defeated) in the award year. Wins to be considered will be WD, WB, BOW, BOB, BOS, with the highest award on a given day to be used as the point basis.

2. Best Opposite SexPerpetual offered by Cottonwood Kennels – Renee Thurber - in same as for Best of Breed, with the award going to the Pointer of the sex opposite to the winner of the Best of Breed award with the highest number of points according to the point system as established above.

3. Best Puppy - Perpetual offered by Royal Kennels – Louis & Judy Krokover points to be tabulated and will be equal to the total. number of actual Pointers, male or female, defeated at the breed level in the award year. Wins to be considered must come from the 6-9 months or 9-12 months puppy classes, and may include WD, WB, BOW, BOS, and BOS. One point given for every dog defeated by virtue of a 1 st place in class or better (i.e. WD or WB, BOS, or BOB)

4. Best Bred-By-Exhibitor - Perpetual offered by Royal Kennels – Louis & Judy Krokover same as for puppy, with all the points coming from the BBE class or better.

PERFORMANCE (AKC licensed OBEDIENCE/AGILITY/RALLY trials only) NO PERPETUAL OFFERED

Highest Scoring Dog - to be awarded to the dog earning the 3 best scores (must be 170 or better) from any level obedience (Novice, Open or Utility). Must have been awarded qualifying scores all within the same award year. If Agility, scores will be doubled, and dog must have qualified with an 85 or better. If Rally, scores will be doubled, and dog must have qualified with an 70 or better.

FIELD (AKC licensed trial/test only) NO PERPETUAL OFFERED

The following point schedule will be used to tabulate all awards in the Field category:
First Place: 5 points
Second Place: 3 points
Third place: 1 point
Fourth place: 2 point
JAM: 1/4 point
JH 2 points Each additional pass after title obtains 1/4 point
SH 3 points Each additional pass after title obtains 1/2 point
MH 5 points Each additional pass after title obtains 1 point

1. Highest Overall Field Dog - NO PERPETUAL OFFERED more than one level may be used (i.e. Puppy, Derby, Amateur, Open, JH, SH or MH) as long as all points were earned in the same year.

2. Highest Scoring Puppy - NO PEPETUAL OFFERED points tabulated must be earned within the awards year and before the dog reaches 18 months of age.

PRODUCTION

The following point schedule will be used to tabulate points for offspring for both Stud Dog and Brood bitch awards.
MACH, MX, MJX, OTCH, FC, CT 5 points each
AFC, MH, UDX, RAE 4 points each
CH, UD, SH, AX, AJX , RE 3 points each
CDX, TDX, JH, OA, OAJ, RA 2 points each
CD, TD, NA, NAJ, RN 1 point each

1. Stud Dog - NO PERPETUAL OFFERED to be awarded to the male whose get have earned the highest number of points during the awards year.

2. Brood Bitch - Perpetual offered by Oreille Kennels – Helayne Parker - to be awarded to the female whose get have earned the highest number of points during the awards year.

OTHER – NO PERPETUAL OFFERED

1. PCSC PERPETUAL TROPHY* FOR MULTIPURPOSE POINTERS - to be awarded to the Pointer who, by virtue of its achievements, has distinguished itself in 3 areas of competition. It is non-competitive and shall be awarded to any dog who qualifies: possession to be shared if more than one dog earns the award in the same year. The requirements are equally balanced between Field, Show, and Performance (includes Tracking an Agility). At least one of the titles must be earned during the awards year. A dog may only earn the award once. The name of qualifying dog/s to be suitably engraved on a plate* for permanent display, never to be retired.

The requirements are as follows (all titles to be AKC only):

OPTION 1
A. The dog shall meet the highest level in one area (Level 3)
B. The dog shall meet high standards in a second different area. (Level 2)
C. The dog shall meet minimum standards in a third area. (Level 1)

OPTION 2
A. Slightly lesser requirements will be acceptable if all titles are earned in one year, as concurrent successful co
mpetition in all areas demonstrates an exceptional multipurpose dog. To this end, a level 3 title, or 2 level 1 titles will qualify. This must be done in a 12 month period with at least one of the titles earned within the awards year.

The following point schedule will be used to tabulate all levels:

SHOW, OBEDIENCE, FIELD, AGILITY, RALLY UDX, MAX, MJX, VST FC, AFC, MH, RAE

Champion 3

10 pts with 1 major CDX, OA, OAJ, TDXSH,RA, RE or 10 field pts 2

5 minor points CD, NA, NAJ, TD JH, RN or 5 field pts 1
