Years - “The History”
The
Pointer Club of Southern California was first organized on May
2, 1971 in Anaheim California. The goal was to encourage and stimulate
the breed of Pointers.
The first Pointer Specialty was held in Pasadena on October 8,
1972. In October 1994 the PCSC was licensed by the American Kennel
Club to hold Independent Specialties.
The
Pointer Press our official newsletter went to publication in 1973.
In the late eighties the club’s logo was created. The first
club banner was made and used at the 1975 specialty show in Pasadena.
In 1976
the clubs name was changed from the American Pointer Club, Southern
California Region to The Golden West Pointer Club. Years later
the name was changed again to our current name.
On March
31, 1979 we hosted our first National Specialty in Fresno for
the Parent Club, The American Pointer Club, Inc. In 1997 we hosted
our second National in Long Beach, CA and the third in 2001 in
Claremont, CA. PCSC has often had a member serve on the APC Board
with affiliate member status.
In March
1997 we became eligible to hold licensed hunting tests. The licensed
hunting tests is for all Pointing Breeds and is held annually.
During
the past 15 years we have had a booth at the America’s Family
Pet Expo where our members and their Pointers help educate the
public on the versatility and beauty of the Pointer. In 2005 our
members participated in the AKC’s, RDOD Responsible Dog
Owner Day.
We congratulate
our members for their outstanding efforts in promoting the best
interest of our breed.....the beloved Pointer.
Special
Thanks to the San Gabriel Kennel Club and its Officers and Directors
which have allowed us to hold our Specialty in Irwindale since
1995. 2006 Brought PCSC their first Website.
